Diogo Dalot, born on March 18, 1999, in Braga, Portugal, is a professional footballer & right-back for Manchester United and the Portuguese national team. Dalot is known for his versatility, strong attacking runs, defensive capabilities, and excellent crossing ability, making him an important figure in both club and international football. Dalot began his career at FC Porto, where he came through the youth ranks and made his senior debut in 2017. His impressive performances at Porto caught the attention of Manchester United, who signed him in June 2018 for a reported fee of £19 million. He was brought to Old Trafford by then-manager José Mourinho, who described Dalot as one of the best young full-backs in Europe. Though Dalot initially struggled with injuries and competition for places in his early seasons at United, he continued to develop and gain experience. A loan move to AC Milan for the 2020-2021 season helped him regain form and confidence, where he impressed with his performances in Serie A. Upon returning to Manchester United, Dalot began to establish himself as a key player under successive managers, competing with Aaron Wan-Bissaka for the right-back position. Dalot’s playing style is characterized by his athleticism, tactical awareness, and ability to contribute offensively, often making overlapping runs and delivering accurate crosses into the box. He is also capable of playing as a left-back, adding to his versatility on the defensive line. Internationally, Dalot has represented Portugal at various youth levels and made his senior debut in 2021. He was part of Portugal’s squad for Euro 2020 and the 2022 FIFA World Cup, cementing his place in the national team setup. As of the 2023-2024 season, Dalot has become an integral part of Manchester United’s defense, showcasing his growth as a reliable, all-rounded full-back. With his continuous improvement and growing experience, Diogo Dalot remains a key figure for both Manchester United and Portugal.
