Biography

Kobbie Mainoo joined Manchester United's youth setup at a very young age, he started his youth career at Cheadle & Gatley Junior Football Club, then working his way through the ranks in the club's prestigious academy. Known for his technical ability, composure on the ball, and versatility, Mainoo became a standout player for Manchester United's U18 and U21 teams. His performances in the youth leagues earned him recognition as one of the brightest prospects to come out of the academy in recent years.

Mainoo played a pivotal role in Manchester United's FA Youth Cup-winning team in 2022. His dynamic midfield presence and ability to control games in the middle of the park made him a key figure in the team's success.

Mainoo's consistent performances at youth level did not go unnoticed by Manchester United's senior coaching staff. He was first included in the senior squad under Erik ten Hag in the 2022-2023 season, making appearances in friendly matches during mid-season breaks and pre-season tours.

On January 10, 2023, Mainoo made his competitive debut for Manchester United in the Carabao Cup quarter-final against Charlton Athletic, a game United won 3-0. He started the match, demonstrating maturity and tactical awareness beyond his years, which earned him praise from fans and pundits alike. His performance showed glimpses of his potential, especially his ability to maintain possession and contribute to both defensive and attacking phases of play.
