Biography Bryan Mbeumo was born in Avallon, a small town in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of France. He is of Cameroonian descent through his father and grew up in a modest, football-loving household. His natural flair and speed made him stand out from a young age, and he joined the youth academy of local club CO Avallon before being spotted by Ligue 2 side ESTAC Troyes.
At Troyes, Mbeumo quickly progressed through the youth ranks. He debuted for the senior team in February 2018 at just 18 years old, earning praise for his pace, close control, and fearlessness on the ball. The 2018–19 season was a breakout year, with 11 goals and 4 assists in 40 Ligue 2 appearances, earning him a place in the division’s Team of the Season.
Troyes (2016–2019) Developed through the youth system. Made 47 senior appearances, scoring 12 goals. Became one of Ligue 2’s standout young talents in 2018–19.
Attracted interest from across Europe with his dribbling, versatility, and finishing.
Brentford (2019–2025)
Transferred to English Championship side Brentford in August 2019 for around £5.8 million. Formed a feared front three with Ollie Watkins and Saïd Benrahma in 2019–20, known as the “BMW” trio. Scored 16 goals in his first season and was instrumental in Brentford’s promotion push. Achieved promotion to the Premier League in 2021 via the playoffs. Became a mainstay in Brentford’s Premier League campaigns, showcasing remarkable consistency.
In 2022–23, he stepped up following Ivan Toney’s absence, scoring 9 league goals. In the 2024–25 season, Mbeumo hit his peak with 20 goals and 7 assists in 38 Premier League matches, earning a place in the Premier League Fan Team of the Season. Left Brentford with 242 appearances, 70 goals & 51 assists in all competitions.
Transfer to Manchester United (2025)
On 21 July 2025, Bryan Mbeumo officially signed for Manchester United in a landmark transfer from Brentford “My mentality is to always be better than I was yesterday. International Career – Cameroon
Though born and raised in France, Mbeumo committed his international future to Cameroon in 2022. Made his debut for the Indomitable Lions in August 2022. Featured in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, appearing in all three group matches. Scored his first international goal in a 2023 AFCON qualifier against Namibia.
Mbeumo has become a crucial figure in Cameroon’s new generation of attacking talent, often linking up with Karl Toko Ekambi and Vincent Aboubakar in the final third.
