Biography
Born on 7 July 2002 in Zottegem, Belgium, Senne Lammens began his footballing journey at KRC Bambrugge and Dender before progressing to Club Brugge’s academy in 2014
As a teenager, he was included in Club Brugge’s senior squad for a Champions League fixture in October 2018 and even scored a memorable stoppage-time equaliser with a header in a UEFA Youth League match against Real Madrid U-19s showing much promise.
Club Brugge & Antwerp Breakthrough
Between 2020 and 2023, Lammens featured for Club Brugge’s reserve team, Club NXT, and made sporadic senior appearances—including a Belgian Super Cup win in 2021 and other cup and league outings.
On 8th June 2023, he signed with Royal Antwerp on a free transfer. He debuted in a Belgian Cup match—a 4–1 win over Lierse in November 2023—and initially served as backup to Jean Butez
By the 2024-25 season, Lammens had cemented his role as Antwerp’s starting goalkeeper. He became widely respected for his exceptional shot-stopping, especially his penalty-saving prowess—having saved four by mid-February—and was regularly voted Antwerp’s Player of the Month by fans in November 2024 and March 2025
International Recognition
Lammens represented Belgium at various youth levels: U15, U16, U17, U18, and U21, accumulating numerous caps along the way. In March 2025, he earned his first senior team call-up for Belgium’s UEFA Nations League play-offs against Ukraine
Move to Manchester United
On 1 September 2025, Manchester United completed the signing of Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp for approximately £18.1–18.2 million (around €21 million), plus add-ons. He agreed to a long-term, five-year deal. Lammens joins a goalkeeper lineup that includes André Onana, Altay Bayindir, and Tom Heaton, addressing Old Trafford’s ongoing goalkeeping concerns.
His arrival was seen as a proactive step by manager Ruben Amorim, especially given recent errors from the existing keepers and the departure of other transfer targets like Emiliano Martínez
Senne Lammens is a young, dynamic goalkeeper rising through the Belgian football system with composure and rare penalty-saving instincts. Now at Manchester United, he’s seen as both a long-term prospect and an immediate boost between the sticks. At just 23, he brings proven consistency, physical presence, and modern goalkeeping skills that have earned him comparisons to top-tier shot-stoppers and could help stabilize United’s defensive foundation.
