He has also been a key figure for the Netherlands national team, where he has frequently delivered on the international stage. Although his time at Manchester United was brief and challenging.

Early Career and Rise at PSV Eindhoven
Depay began his professional career at PSV Eindhoven in the Eredivisie, where he quickly rose to prominence as one of the most exciting young talents in Europe. Known for his direct style of play, powerful shooting, and ability to beat defenders, Depay became PSV's standout player, helping the club win the Eredivisie title in 2014-15.

Key Achievements at PSV Eindhoven:
2014–15 Eredivisie Title: Depay was instrumental in PSV's league triumph, finishing the season as the league's top scorer with 22 goals.
Eredivisie Top Scorer (2014–15): His incredible goal-scoring form earned him the Eredivisie top scorer title, and his performances attracted the attention of major European clubs.
Manchester United Career (2015–2017)
In 2015, Depay signed for Manchester United under manager Louis van Gaal for a reported fee of £25 million, arriving with high expectations due to his impressive form at PSV and his rising status in European football. Despite showing glimpses of his immense talent, Depay struggled to find consistency during his time at Old Trafford.

Key Moments at Manchester United:
Depay showed flashes of his quality early on, including a standout performance in a Champions League qualifier against Club Brugge, where he scored twice and provided an assist. Despite moments of brilliance, Depay found it difficult to adapt to the Premier League, and his form dipped as the season progressed. After the arrival of José Mourinho in 2016, Depay saw limited playing time and was eventually sold to Olympique Lyonnais in January 2017. In total, Depay made 53 appearances for Manchester United, scoring 7 goals across all competitions.

Career Revival at Olympique Lyonnais (2017–2021)
After leaving Manchester United, Depay joined Olympique Lyonnais in Ligue 1, where he revitalized his career. At Lyon, Depay became the focal point of the attack, consistently delivering goals and assists. His ability to play as both a winger and a center forward allowed him to thrive in France, where he enjoyed the best form of his club career.

At Lyon, Depay was named captain of Lyon, demonstrating his leadership qualities on and off the pitch. He scored over 75 goals in 178 appearances for the club, becoming one of the most dangerous attackers in Ligue 1. Depay played a key role in Lyon's impressive run to the UEFA Champions League semi-finals in 2019–20, where they defeated Juventus and Manchester City before losing to Bayern Munich.
In 2021, Depay signed for Barcelona on a free transfer, reuniting with his former Netherlands manager Ronald Koeman. Despite Barcelona's financial struggles and a period of transition, Depay performed well, contributing with goals and assists during a difficult period for the club.

While at Barcelona: Depay scored 12 goals in his first season at Barcelona, becoming the team's top scorer despite injuries and the club's struggles. After one season, Depay was sold to Atlético Madrid as Barcelona continued to restructure their squad.

Depay has been a key player for the Netherlands national team, making over 80 appearances and scoring more than 40 goals. Known for his ability to deliver in big moments, Depay has been instrumental in several of the Netherlands' international campaigns, including their run to the 2020 UEFA Euro quarter-finals and qualification for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Depay was the top scorer in the European World Cup qualifiers, playing a crucial role in helping the Netherlands qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Depay was a standout performer during the 2018–19 UEFA Nations League, where the Netherlands finished as runners-up.

Depay is known for pace, dribbling, and ability to score from long range. He can play in multiple attacking roles, including as a winger, second striker, or center forward, making him a versatile option for any team. His technical ability, combined with his creativity and flair, makes him a constant threat to opposition defenses.

Although Depay's time at Manchester United did not live up to expectations, his career resurgence at Lyon and subsequent move to Barcelona and Atlético Madrid has cemented his place as one of Europe's top forwards. His leadership and performances for the Netherlands national team have also elevated his standing on the international stage, making him a key player for club and country.
