Andrei Kanchelskis is a retired Russian winger known for his fast, direct playing style and memorable career in the Premier League with Manchester United and Everton in the 1990s. Born on January 23, 1969, in Kirovograd, Soviet Union (now Ukraine), he began his professional career with Dynamo Kyiv and Shakhtar Donetsk before joining United in 1991. His explosive speed, crossing, and ability to score made him a fan favorite, contributing significantly to United’s success.

During his time at United, Kanchelskis won multiple trophies, including two Premier League titles (1992–93 and 1993–94), an FA Cup in 1994, and the League Cup. He played a key role on the right wing, often thrilling fans with his pace and aggressive runs, establishing himself as one of the league’s most exciting players. However, a contract dispute in 1995 led to his transfer to Everton, where he quickly became one of their most impactful players. Notably, Kanchelskis scored twice in a famous Merseyside derby victory over Liverpool, cementing his place in Everton’s history.

In 1997, he moved to Fiorentina in Italy’s Serie A, and though his time there was brief, he later joined Rangers in Scotland, winning two Scottish Premier League titles and adding further silverware to his career. He later played for Manchester City, Southampton, Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia, and Krylia Sovetov in Russia before retiring from professional football.

Internationally, Kanchelskis had a unique career, representing three national teams due to the dissolution of the Soviet Union: the Soviet Union, the CIS, and Russia, earning over 50 caps across his international career. Known for his speed, determination, and technical skill, Kanchelskis remains one of the few Russian players to make a significant impact in the English Premier League and is fondly remembered by fans for his contributions to United and Everton.
