Peter Barnes is a former English footballer best known for his great pace and exceptional dribbling as a winger. Barnes the son of former City wing half Ken Barnes, began his career at Manchester City, where he gained national attention by helping the club win the 1976 League Cup, scoring in the final. Following his successful spell at City, Barnes had stints with West Bromwich Albion and Leeds United before making a loan move to Manchester United in 1984.

Manchester United Career (1984–1987)
Barnes joined Manchester United in 1984 under manager Ron Atkinson, bringing his reputation as a dynamic winger. At Old Trafford, Barnes made 25 appearances and scored 4 goals during his two seasons at the club. Despite his undeniable talent, Barnes struggled to find consistency in his performances, which led to limited playing time, especially with stiff competition in United’s attack. Though he showed flashes of brilliance, Barnes could not replicate his earlier form at Manchester City. He left Manchester United in 1987 to continue his career with other clubs in England and abroad.
